I abhor this sentiment. We need small, theoretically substantive trials capable of advancing medical science rapidly in a mode of [strong inference](https://discourse.datamethods.org/t/methodology-mediation-moderation-regression-manova/1576/2). We do not need large, theoretically shallow trials that grope blindly\* for small-effect-size [metaphorical ‘oomphs’](https://discourse.datamethods.org/t/how-to-evaluate-the-quality-of-risk-adjustment-models/2065/10) that lack realistic theoretical connections to physiology.
