I am a physician epidemiologist with 40 years of experience designing epidemiologic studies and analyzing observational data. I am now retired from paid employment but I occasionally consult and I write a lot of notes to people who publish (what I think are) bad papers. I actively follow the literature on methods in epidemiology and have begun contributing to forums (like this one) that try to sort out what kinds of methods should be used in medical research.
