Is there a template for creating a README file that provides important information about a project, including the statistical analysis performed for a study proposal. Mainly I am interested to know what the key points to consider and how the README file should be structured ?

IMHO this is best handled with a Quarto reproducible document using R and has hyperlinks to all the other material.
